The Sons of Thunder

Ok so. This is the three of us today, November 2nd 2008, three days after we made the pact. We are also doing No Shave November, so this was one full day into that. That is not one full day of growth on Jacob. He’s manly…but not that manly. Braxton and I wil probably not grow much more than what is in that picture throughout the rest of the month we just thought it would be fun.

At least once a month we will be posting a picture so you can see the progress our hair is making. Hope you guys enjoy this journey.

One thing I forgot to mention. We have made this pact a variation of a Slap Bet. What this means is that:

If one of the participants (Jacob, Braxton, or I) end up dropping out and getting a hair cut he will receive five slaps from each of the other participants over the course of his lifetime, making a total of ten slaps. These slaps can come at ANY time, and at ANY place, and can be as soft or as face shattering as the slapper deems appropriate. If the participant who dropped out should perish before he receives all of his slaps the slaps then transfer to the next of kin.

So, if ever you see one of us get slapped by someone you barely recognize from a facebook photo from 10 years back…that’s why. We all swear up and down that we will not be dropping out…but who knows. What a great little experiment.

The Original Sons of Thunder are James and John the sons of Zebedee (Mark 3:17).

When I moved to New Orleans for Mission Year and met my roommates JacobDavis and Braxton we realized how awesome we were, and then realized it was our duty to become the new Sons of Thunder. Since then, we have made this the foundation for everything we do.

Today, October 29th 2008, we made a pact to not cut our hair for the rest of the year. The Sons of Thunder blog will chronicle this event in our lives, as well as be about other general Godly/manly things.

Sincerely,

The Sons of Thunder.
